Adventures in wayfinding:
Jack Trice Stadium

“This one,” you say, a little too forcefully. If there’s a stadium, there must be a campus, right?
Your mom gives you a look. “You don’t sound sure.”
“We can always turn around,” you say.
Your mom glances at her watch. “All right. We’ve got time to explore.”

“Look! We’re on the right track,” you say.
You pass a couple of hotels and restaurants, several businesses, then a city park with ball fields. Past the park is a residential neighborhood with well-kept single-story houses. Is this really the way to campus? Maybe you should have stayed on the interstate.
At a stoplight is another Jack Trice Stadium sign.

“I was starting to wonder if this was the way,” your mom says.
At the next traffic light on Grand Avenue, you scan the area for another stadium sign but don’t see one.
Your mom says, “Well?”
Neither 13th Street nor Grand Avenue is on your campus map. What do you do?
- You’re feeling optimistic. Keep going straight.
- You made a mistake. Turn around and go back to the interstate.
